Understanding colors in the output box
After you paraphrase text in QuillBot, your results appear in the output box. Different colors are used to show the types of changes and controls available.
Here is what each color means:
- Changed words (red): Words that were swapped with synonyms to preserve meaning.
- Structural changes (yellow line): Indicates that sentence structure was rearranged or clauses were altered.
- Longest unchanged words (blue): The longest sequence of words that stayed the same between your original and paraphrased text.
- Thesaurus (purple): Words that can be clicked to open the drop-down thesaurus and select synonyms.
- Selected sentence (light blue highlight): Shows which sentence is currently selected. This lets you re-paraphrase the sentence instantly by adjusting the mode or Synonym settings or by using the sentence control bar.
You can also change the sentence highlight color to yellow by checking the option in the settings drawer.
