In QuillBot for macOS version 2.4, minor issues may arise when paraphrasing or translating multiple sentences that feature different types of formatting, such as:
- Headlines
- Text colors
- Fonts
- Bullets and lists
Since we only handle plain text, formatting information is lost when content is sent to the server. When text is replaced, it adopts the formatting style of the very beginning of the selected text range. This is particularly noticeable with headlines or bullet points, where the entire text may be formatted as a headline or bullets may be lost altogether.
Recommendation
- We’re actively working to address this issue. We recommend paraphrasing or translating content at the paragraph or bullet-point level rather than across sections with different formatting.
- To avoid major disruption to formatting, we’ve already implemented limits on the amount of text that can be paraphrased at once.
- In any case, users should only ever experience minor loss of formatting; however, the actual text content should never be altered or corrupted.
