I received the message "Error: Microsoft does not allow use of this extension without a verified copy of Word or on versions lower than Office 16.0.11629"?

This is an error affecting users due to a Microsoft update. In our redesign, we were required to use a new API in Word due to Microsoft requirements. However, due to a Microsoft update, certain segments of users are unable to connect properly to our extension in Word. Our working theory is that users who are in one or more of these categories are being affected:

• Non-subscription versions of Office for Windows. This means cracked/illegally obtained versions of Word, as well as Word instances that have not been activated with a product key.
• Office running on versions of Windows 10 lower than 1903.
• Versions of Office lower than 16.0.11629.

If you are in one of these categories, please update your version of Office, Windows, or activate your copy of Word. Additionally, please ensure that you are logged into a Microsoft account when attempting to use the extension. If you are unable to do this, be aware we are working on a patch to assist these users.
