How does QuillBot use my data?

We use your inputs and usage data to provide the QuillBot service and the features you use. Your inputs and usage data are also used for both (1) training to improve the services generally and (2) personalizing the service to you. For example, we sample user inputs to better understand what people want to use our services for and adapt our products accordingly. We also use information about which product outputs and suggestions are accepted by our users in order to show more of what each user wants and less of what they do not want.

For extensions users on versions 4.37.0 or above, we offer two data controls to opt out of: (1) allowing QuillBot to store text inputs (all users) and (2) allowing QuillBot to use text inputs to train the models that power our AI tools (available to account-holders). When storage is on, QuillBot can provide a more consistent, high-quality, and personalized experience. To provide the best user experience, storing text inputs will be on by default for everyone. Note that when you make a selection or change to your controls it applies to your account settings from that point forward. To make or change your opt-out choices, open your Extension Settings or Popup Menu, click on View All Settings, and navigate to the Data and Privacy menu.

We do not train on any text inputs from Team Plan users.

QuillBot works with third-party service providers to give you the best tools possible. We thoroughly review our service providers’ privacy and security practices to ensure they meet our privacy and security standards. We have contractual agreements with our service providers that place restrictions on how they may process personal data on our behalf. It is QuillBot’s standard policy to not allow any third-party service provider to use your data to train their AI models.
