If the QuillBot icon appears grayed out in Google Docs, it means the extension isn’t active or can’t connect properly. This can happen for a few common reasons.
Possible reasons why the QuillBot icon is grayed out
- You’re not logged in to your QuillBot account.
Log in to your QuillBot account through the Chrome extension to activate the icon in Google Docs. - The Google Doc uses an older HTML rendering that QuillBot doesn’t support.
Try creating a new document and check if the icon appears active there. - Your document is in pageless or another unsupported mode.
Switch your Google Doc to page mode by going to File → Page setup → Pages. - The QuillBot Chrome extension is disabled.
Click the QuillBot icon in your browser toolbar, open the settings popup, and make sure “Enable QuillBot” is turned on.
Tip: If the icon remains grayed out after trying these steps, try refreshing the page or reinstalling the QuillBot Chrome extension.
If the issue continues, please contact QuillBot Support for help.
