If you canceled the auto-renewal of your QuillBot Premium subscription but were still charged, this usually means the renewal had already been scheduled or processed before you turned it off. Canceling renewal stops future payments, but it does not cancel your subscription immediately.
Below is a clear breakdown of why this happens and how to fix it.
Why you were still charged
1. Auto-renewal was already scheduled
When you cancel renewal, the system sets your subscription to expire at the end of your current billing period.
If the renewal was already queued or processing, the charge may still go through.
2. Canceling renewal does not end your subscription immediately
Disabling renewal only prevents future charges.
You still keep Premium access until the end of the cycle (monthly, quarterly, or yearly), which is why billing may appear after you cancel.
3. You may have canceled after the renewal date
If the renewal date had already passed—sometimes even by a few minutes—the system may have already processed the charge.
Refund policy reminder
You can cancel your subscription at any time by turning off auto renewal. However, as outlined in our Terms of Service, refunds are issued only if required by law.
If you purchased your subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, contact Apple or Google to request a refund.
How to confirm your cancellation
- Go to your Account page by clicking your profile icon (your initial) in the top-right corner of the QuillBot website and selecting Account Details.
- Open the Your Plan tab.
You can confirm your cancellation by checking the following:
- If renewal is disabled, you will see a Resubscribe option under Manage Subscription.
- Your subscription will also display “Ends on” under the Current Plan section, showing the date your Premium access will expire.
If you want to cancel immediately
If you prefer your subscription to end right away instead of at the end of the billing period, please contact our support team.
We can help cancel your subscription immediately if eligible.
